Employment of Non-EU Migrant Workers

Nationals of third-countries which are not the European Union Member States, countries of the European Economic Area (Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein) or Switzerland, need a permit for work and employment in Slovenia. Short-term work as a legal representative of up to 90 days should be registered online.

Some groups of foreign nationals have the right to free access to the Slovenian labour market.

Learning Slovenian language

For third-country nationals, a successfully passed Slovene language exam within one year of registering with the Employment Service of Slovenia is mandatory

That is why the Employment Service of Slovenia gives you the opportunity to participate in the Slovene language course once and to take the proficiency exam once (breakthrough level – A1).

Attending the training course is free of charge and is not a prerequisite for taking the exam.
