International Research Summer Camps for Gifted/Talented Students (Age 15 – 18)
INTRODUCTION Summer camps for gifted/talented students with Zois scholarship are organized by Employment Service of Slovenia (ESS). Its main purpose is to develop interests, stimulate creativity, guide further career and connect the Zois scholarship recipients with the employers. Summer camp programs include many additional activities to regular school program, where gifted/talented students could select the workshops according to their interests. They can work, create and cooperate with experienced mentors in a friendly climate and develop quality relationships. One week of common living with other gifted/talented students can make difference for them, not only in broadening their knowledge and research interests, but also in fulfilling their social needs and having fun. Research summer camps play important role in career orientation of gifted/talented students, because there are many opportunities to explore their career choices. The ESS will organize 2 international research summer camps in August 2008 for gifted/talented students in secondary education (age 15 – 18) from six EU member states, which already participate in the regional network for talented students (Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia). For each international research summer camp there are 4 places for gifted students from each EU member states (and 10 participants from Slovenia), so together there will be 30 participants in each summer camp. The ESS has already asked the network contact persons in each EU member state to provide 1 adult companion for each camp. You can apply for summer camps: directly on the ESS (for candidates from countries where the ESS couldn’t get representative institution or organization to collect applications and make selection of the applicants according to criteria) or via representative organisation in your country – its name and address are on application form (for candidates from Austria and Czech Republic). We hope to broaden our cooperation with similar institution in other EU member states (Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). |
