26 May 2005
- Today in Ljubljana, cooperation between the Employment Service of
Slovenia and the Swedish employment service AMS, has resulted in the final
presentation of training intended for employment service staff engaged in group
work with the unemployed. It is one of the activities within the broader “Work
Life Development Programme” (WLDP) initiated in autumn 2004 by the Swedish
employment service, with the aim of deepening professional links between public
employment services in new member states and candidate countries for EU
membership (Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey). It also represents continuation of the
successful Work Life and EU Enlargement (WLE) programme, which ran from 2001 to
2004 and in which the Employment Service of Slovenia also played an active role.
Both projects have been funded by the Swedish government.

About thirty representatives of public employment services from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro and Slovenia will take part in the workshop. The event will also be attended by the representatives of the European Commission and the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The purpose of the workshop is to present the employment issue of young people in the countries of the workshop participants. Moreover, to seek models of possible solutions to these problems and ways of obtaining international funds for their realisation in practice. The workshop is part of the co-operation of public employment services of transitional and EU candidate countries, and Slovenia – a member state of the EU. At the last meeting within this frame of co-operation in Sarajevo in October 2004 the employment issue of young people was identified as one of the key problems of the labour market in the above-mentioned countries.
