THE REVIEW OF THE
ACTIVITIES PERFORMED SINCE THE LAST CONFERENCE OF DIRECTORS GENERAL IN MOŠOVCE
In the period from October 2000 to
September 2002, public employment services from Central Europe realised all commonly
agreed conclusions and agreements from the last conference of directors general. Briefly,
the activities performed are as follows:
- The Slovene and German employment services organised a joint
workshop (in two parts) “Employment for Older Job Seekers”.
- The first part of the workshop took place in Velenje,
Slovenia, in October 2001. 20 representatives from all eight employment services
participated. The basic aim and objective of the workshop was to determine numerous
dimensions of this topic in the modern world and to prepare themes and questions for the
second part of the workshop. The employment services prepared comprehensive introductory
materials which made the work even more efficient.
- The second part of the workshop was held in Lauf, Germany,
in December 2001. The representatives from six employment services took part in it. A
great deal of additional information was presented in the workshop but most attention was
paid to the description and analysis of appropriate and necessary measures and methods to
solve various problems of older job seekers.
- The Slovak and Czech employment services prepared a joint
workshop “Illegal Work” in Trenčianske Teplice in October 2000. 26 representatives
from eight PES participated, who had prepared the information and materials, which formed
the basis for the discussion. The recommendations and conclusions were presented in the
final part of the discussion (and in the report).
- The Austrian and Hungarian PES organised a joint workshop
“Co-operation Between PES and Private Partners on the Labour Market” which took place
in Sopron, Hungary, in May 2002. 24 representatives from 7 PES participated. On the basis
of the participants' contributions, a discussion on numerous topics followed: basic fields
of the co-operation, partners and target groups, the type and methods of co-operation, the
expected results, etc.
- In the period from 2000 to 2002 there was a lot of
communication among the co-ordinators in charge of the co-operation among the Central
European PES. Due to the preparation of the conference of directors general, the network
of co-ordinators met twice at the meetings in Lauf and Sopron. Numerous contacts and
exchanges of opinion also took place within the bilateral contacts and visits among PES
from the eight countries of Central Europe.
- The last agreement, on the organisation of the conference of
directors general in Slovenia in September 2002, was realised as well.
